Encounter

The story of two boats that found one another after sunset, met first through their lights, and then followed separate courses again.

Two boats drawing near on the dark sea, their red and white lights reflected on the water.
Photo story · 28 July 2026

As evening settled over the sea, the red boat followed the last path the sun had left on the water, curious to know where it led. As the horizon darkened, a white light appeared ahead.

The two boats drew near. Their lights touched first; red and white reflections stretched across the same water and trembled like a single line. For a while, the sea stopped carrying the distance between them.

When the sun had fully withdrawn, their courses parted again. One returned to the darkness it had come from; the other kept moving into the night.

The red boat continued alone. On the water remained the trace of two lights that had travelled side by side for a while.
